Nuovo is a contemporary concert series co-founded and co-directed by composers Shanti Sivarulrasa and Benjamin Fraser. The series is dedicated to featuring new works by emerging Atlantic-Canadian composers.

 

The Nuovo Concert Series has featured the works of several composers including Uandha Fernandes Barbosa, Jeremie Boudreau, Cora Cameron, Stephen Deturbide, Dylan Hay, Harry McInroy, Garrett Niall, Hope Salmonson, and Hsiu-Ping Patrick Wu. The series has featured numerous Halifax-based performers including Peter Allen (piano), Amelie Burkinshaw (harp), Brogan Cameron (piano), Victoria Dubois (flute), Amelia Hurst (bass clarinet), Ria Kim (piano), Noam Koubi (violin), Lillian LeBlanc (cello), Katya McBeth (violin), and the Rostova String Quartet.

 

The series hosts two concerts per year. Upcoming calls for scores will be announced through Instagram.
